Document Names

In PowerWeb, the value of Document ID for the Facility Document, Transmission Document type, and Project Document types conforms to one of the following document naming conventions. The naming convention can be selected by the document creator. All documents imported by drag-and-drop are automatically renamed according to one of the naming conventions; the filename is not used.

Automatic Naming

Names are automatically calculated based on other document properties and this pattern: <ClassificationCodeAbbreviation>-<DisciplineCode>-<4-digitSequentialNumber>.<FileExtension>. The sequential number is unique based on the values of Classification Code and Discipline Code and padded with leading zeros. This convention is consistent and provides easy document identification.

Manual Name Range

Names are manually entered by the document creator. The only restriction is that the name be unique (checked automatically) within the entire vault.
